How to Restore Metro Mode for Internet Explorer in Windows 8:

Windows 8 comes with a significant change for Internet Explorer (IE) 10.

1)      Desktop

2)      Metro

By default IE 10 is available to users as Metro edition. It can be accessed from the Start screen.

If a user installs any alternative web browsers such as Google chrome or Fire Fox and sets it as default browser then the Microsoft will change the IE to desktop mode. You can notice this in start screen, there the IE tile looks different as shown below.

Follow these steps to restore the Metro mode for Internet Explorer.

Open the Start screen (Press Windows key) and then type “Default Programs”, you will get the Default Programs app.

Click “Set this program as default” and click “OK”.

If you set another browser as default then again the Metro mode will be disabled. Don’t worry you can re-enable it whenever you want by performing above steps.
