How to Create a System Image in Windows 8:

A System image is an exact copy of your drives. System image includes the drives required for running windows by default. It also includes Windows and your system settings, programs, and files It is used to restore your computer when your hard disk or computer crashes or stops working. When you restore your computer using a system image it is a complete restoration,all your current programs, system settings, and files are replaced with the contents of the system image. You can’t choose individual items to restore.

Follow these steps to create a system image.

Step 1: Point your mouse to the lower-right corner of the screen, click Settings or press windows+i.

1Step 2: Click Control Panel.

2Step 3: Open Windows 7 File Recovery.

3Step 4: Click on Create a system imagefrom left side of the window.

4Step 5: Choose where to save the system image. You can select an external storage device or you can burn to DVDs. Since it takes more space like gigabytes it is preferred to save in external hard disk. Then click Next.

5Step 6: Select the drives which you want to include in the system image for back up. The drives that are required for running windows will be automatically included. Also you cannot add the drive that you are saving the backup to. Then click Next.

6Step 7: Make sure that everything is correct, and then click the Start backup button.

7Step 8: The backup process will start. If you want you can cancel by clicking Stop backup. This process will take few minutes.

8Step 9: At the end it will ask you to create a system repair disk. If you want to create click yes,                                                                  else click no. System repair disk is necessary to load the image to the disk. You can create the system repair disk at any moment you want.

Step 10: When the backup process is completed Click close.

10The system image file will be stored in a folder named WindowsImageBackup.
